The term "probate" is a legal process in which property in a decedent's estate is transferred to his beneficiaries or heirs.  In Florida, the person responsible for the probate of an estate is the Personal Representative (PR).  If no one makes an application to the court for appointment, then the court will appoint a capable person to serve as the PR.
